Job Description

The Senior Business Configuration Analyst (Sr. BCA) is responsible for gathering requirements from internal clients, providing business and technical expertise in support of the business area. The Sr. BCA will provide configuration expertise during the design/build sessions to find the most appropriate configuration solution as well as ensure the proposed solutions enhance and support the business operations. Specifically, the Sr. BCA elicits, analyzes, performs preliminary testing, communicates and validates requirements for changes to business processes, policies and transaction processing system by creating Functional and Configuration documentation including development, technical and implementation. This person is responsible for ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner including receiving proper approvals through all control boards.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Supports complex transaction processing configuration changes spanning multiple systems or business processes

  • Uses their business experience and analytical skills to ensure the effectiveness of system changes

  • Completes complex configuration requests as assigned, based on approved business requirements to support current and changing business processes.

  • Develops prototypes and performs “proof of concept” testing and relays results to business owners for approval

  • Assists with and approves test plan development efforts and coordinates user acceptance testing when required

  • Provides guidance for Business Configuration Analysts performing work outlined in technical specifications

  • Supports business units by developing data driven configuration solutions to address changes in business rules

  • Supports major projects involving configuration changes to Facets and Ingenix-iCES

  • Leads and/or participates in interdepartmental workgroup sessions designed to facilitate effective solutions to ongoing systemic transaction processing problems

  • Supports the implementation of new Plan product offerings and their implementation

  • Identifies and makes recommendations for intradepartmental process improvements

  • Supports project implementation of new Facets modules and other configuration projects

  • Serves in a supporting capacity to Management and Business Configuration Principal during system upgrades

  • Reviews and provides input into Business Configuration Analysts job aids, training materials, configuration, and other documentation.

  • Leads, mentors and coaches junior team members.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Supervision Exercised:

  • Provides technical supervision to less experienced staff as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

Preferred/Desirable:

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • A minimum of six (6) years experience in a managed care or healthcare organization, preferably in an information systems department is required.
  • At least 4 years experience working with transaction system configuration

Preferred/Desirable:

  • Trizetto-Facets experience

Competencies, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated competence using MS tools, including MS Office products, MS Access, SQL Server, Visio, and MS Project.
  • Experience using SQL to develop basic queries.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, and an ability to provide great customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities, meet deadlines, coordinate with other to accomplish general objectives, multi-task and problem solve.
  • Flexible, highly motivated, self-starter individual capable of supporting multiple tasks needed, with proven ability to take ownership of projects and responsibilities under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to utilize analytic skills to conceptualize and envision the impact of change, and propose new ways to do business.
  • Strong leadership skills a must with an ability to develop and mentor junior team members.
